The Reading Room

Reading Room Review Just last weekend my best friend and I went on a double date to the Reading Room in downtown St. Petersburg . All four of us were super excited for our reservation that we had planned for a couple of weeks.  After reading several reviews and looking at tons of pictures of the atmosphere and the food, I was expecting to be blown away- that being said, before I get into details; none of the food was bad, it just wasn't as amazing as everyone made it out to seem.  My friends and I were, slightly disappointed, due to the money we spent, and nothing was extraordinarily good.  Place Setting As for the atmosphere , our reservation was at 6:30, at this time the  restaurant was quiet and there  was only a few other tables, around 7:15 the restaurant started to fill up, and it got rather loud, however we were at table near the center of the restaurant.  There was also 2 larger parties that arrived ju...

The Best Carrot Cake

The Worlds Best Carrot Cake and also the simplest Every year I make this delicious carrot cake for my dad's birthday  It's been passed down through the family- it started with my grandfather when he perfected it and no one has dared to change it or use a different recipe, especially for a special occasion like this!  Only the best for birthdays!  The cake is perfectly moist and has just the right amount of sweetness! It's so simple it's almost impossible to mess up, and just ten ingredients, one bowl and an electric mixer! Arugula Salad

Image
Arugula Salad roasted cauliflower, and chickpeas, with lemon pasta and arugula This arugula salad, is filled with fresh flavors.  A hint of sweet with corn and peas. A salty kick of roasted chickpeas, and a crunch of cauliflower.  Over a nutritional bed of peppery fresh arugula.   All these flavors together make for the perfect, fresh, flavorful, and colorful salad. I used this salad as a lunch entree, but it could easily be a side to a delicious dinner, or a midday snack in a small portion.  You could also add a protein such as chicken, or fish to make it a more filling meal. Juice & Java Review!

Image
Juice & Java Miami give your taste buds what you want and your body what it needs  A few weekends ago I went to down to Miami for my college orientation at Johnson and Wales University, where I will be attending this fall.  While I was in Miami we had one free day where we went to the beach.  We also went to lunch, here at Juice and Java and dinner at Zuma.  Read my review of Zuma Miami to find out more.  We went to Hallandale beach and it was beautiful.  Here's a picture completely unrelated to this review! Juice and Java is about 5 minutes away from this beach and is definitely  great for a quick bite!   My mom, sister and I all went into the restaurant with beach attire on and they didn't have a problem with it.  The restaurant  is located in a strip mall right across from many beach accesses so this is perfect for a light beach day lunch.  They were very reasonably priced, especiall...

Blueberry Bundt Cake!

Image
Blueberry Bundt Cake! This past Sunday I made a delicious buttermilk blueberry bundt cake.  It was absolutely delicious and light and fluffy as well. The buttermilk in this recipe definitely makes the cakes.  (full recipe at the bottom of the page) It was quick and super simple.  Most of the ingredients you'll already have around the house, and, its only 10 ingredients.  I suggest freezing the blueberries before hand.  It stops them from sinking, and is super convenient if you're berries are about to go bad and you want to save them!  The active time was only 20 minutes, however it does have to bake for about 40 minutes, but it's definitely worth the wait! This cake was a family favorite and everyone ate it right up!  It only lasted 2 days in my house, and it makes about 12 pieces! Click Below For The Recipe ↓↓↓↓↓ Blueberry Bundt Cake Recipe!

Zuma Miami- Modern Japanese Cuisine

Image
Zuma Review This weekend I had my college orientation at Johnson and Wales University in North Miami.  We ate lunch at a restaurant called Juice and Java and I 'll have a review on that coming soon.   For reference, throughout the review, there was 3 of us in our party.  I don't believe that reservations are required, however, we did make a reservation through open table .  This is the entrance to the Zuma restaurant  inside of the hotel. Zuma is a chain restaurant with other unique locations, such as Hong Kong, London and Dubai.  This particular one that I went too is in the heart of downtown Miami and connected to Kimpton EPIC Hotel .   Zuma has modern Japanese cuisine, this includes, soups & salads, cold dishes, robata grill, tempura, signature dishes, sushi and sashimi.  Everything is served sharing style, meaning that all dishes are large enough for everyone at the table. They bring the food...

Lemon Raspberry Cupcakes!

Image
Lemon Raspberry Cupcakes! These lemon raspberry cupcakes are a perfect summer treat.  They're sweet and tart.  The lemon cream cheese frosting makes them refreshing on a hot day.  These are great for a summer gathering or picnic! When I made these I used fresh raspberries, you can use fresh if in season, which I suggest, or you can use frozen raspberries.  If you choose to use frozen don't defrost them first, leave them frozen.  The fresh raspberries will  be softer and create a moister cupcake.    These cupcakes have a buttermilk vanilla cake mix base, you can use a favorite vanilla mix, if you have one, or use the one I have used.  The buttermilk cake mix makes for a more textured cupcake, as opposed to whole milk or a sour cream mix.   To get the complete recipe for the Raspberry Cupcakes and the Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting, click the link below!  ↓↓↓↓ Lemon Raspberry Cupcakes Recipe!

Apple Cinnamon Cupcakes!

Image
APPLE CINNAMON CUPCAKES! Apple cinnamon cupcakes with Cinnamon cream cheese frosting and an Apple fritter nugget! This Friday I made apple cinnamon cupcakes, they're the perfect amount of sweet and fruity.  The cinnamon and sugar apple glaze filling on the inside, gives the cupcakes just the right amount of crunch!  To top it all off an apple fritter on top adds that extra little bit of sweetness to the dessert.
